Life is full of invitations.

A new job.

A side project.

A volunteer opportunity.

A creative idea you've been thinking about.

Or maybe someone asks you to take on one more responsibility.

Not every opportunity is meant for you...and not every "good" opportunity is the right one for you right now.

When we're unsure, it's easy to overthink. We weigh the pros and cons, ask everyone else for their opinion, and try to predict every possible outcome.

But intuition offers a much simpler approach.

The next time you're faced with a decision, pause before answering and ask yourself these two questions.

1. Is this something I want to do now?

Notice the emphasis isn't just on want. It's on now.

There may be opportunities that are perfectly aligned for you…just not in this season of your life.

Your intuition understands timing.

A "not now" isn't the same as a "no." Sometimes it's simply an acknowledgment that your energy is already committed elsewhere or that another priority deserves your attention first.

Giving yourself permission to honor timing is an act of self-trust.

2. Am I excited or energized by the thought of taking it on?

Pay attention to your first reaction. Before your mind starts listing reasons why you should or shouldn't say "yes," notice what happens in your body.

Do you feel lighter? Curious? Motivated?

Do you catch yourself imagining what's possible? Or do you immediately feel tired, obligated, or drained?

Your intuition often communicates through your energy long before your thoughts catch up.

Excitement doesn't always mean there won't be challenges. It simply means the opportunity gives you energy instead of taking it away.

Trust What Your Body Already Knows

Your intuition doesn't always speak in words.

Sometimes it whispers through enthusiasm. Sometimes it speaks through peace. And sometimes it lets you know something isn't aligned because your energy simply isn't there.

The more you practice checking in with yourself before saying yes, the easier it becomes to recognize the opportunities that truly fit your path.

The next time a new project, job, assignment, or direction comes your way, skip the endless analysis for just a moment.

Ask yourself the following:

Is this something I want to do now?

Am I excited or energized by the thought of taking it on?

You may discover your answer has been waiting inside you all along.

Reflection

Intuition isn't only about knowing what to say "yes" to. It's also about recognizing when your energy is guiding you toward a gracious "not right now."
